HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR EYEGLASSES

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR EYEGLASSES

Let's face it, looking for the perfect pair of eyeglasses takes time, effort, and money. Depending on your eye condition, your glasses can get pretty expensive so you want to make sure to keep them in good condition for as long as possible.

We can all agree to this: take care of your eyeglasses and they’ll last longer. How? Keep reading for some tips on the proper care and maintenance of your glasses.

Wear them properly.

One way to keep your glasses safe is to wear them. After all, eyeglasses are made to be worn. Make sure your glasses fit snugly on your ears so they won’t fall off while walking, turning your head, or making any movement. Don’t wear them on top of your head. Doing this might damage the glasses. It’s also not too stylish and it does not serve its purpose if you’re not wearing them properly over your eyes.

Do not just wear them. Clean them, too.

Your glasses are always touching your face so keeping them clean is super important. It’s a sign of proper hygiene and your vision will be clearer with clean eyeglasses. Dirt and sweat can build up on your lenses – we don’t want that.

When cleaning your glasses, use water and soft cloth. If you don’t want scratches on your lenses, don’t use a paper towel or any other harsh material to wipe off dust and fingerprints. You can also use a cleaner specifically formulated for eyeglasses. Never use soap or other cleaning products on the lenses to prevent any damage.

Keep them safe when not in use.

When you’re not wearing them, keep your eyeglasses in their case or pouch so they don’t get scratched, crushed, or smashed. Glasses are fragile and they also need proper care even when you’re not using them. Cases and pouches are designed not only to protect your eyeglasses from damage but also to keep them clean.

Don’t leave your glasses lying around.

If you’ve been wearing eyeglasses for years, there’s a high chance that this has happened to you: you put down your glasses for a minute then someone accidentally sits on it, steps on it, or drops it. Yikes. Broken pieces everywhere. Cracked lenses. Eyeglasses that can’t be used anymore. We don’t want that happening ever again. It’s a waste of money, plus you won’t see clearly for a couple hours (or days) until you get a new pair.

Don’t just leave your glasses on tables, on your nightstand, on top of cabinets, or anywhere prone to accidents. If you can’t avoid putting them down, find a safe place where no one could sit on it, step on it, or drop it. Or put them in the case. That would be much better.

Don't use harsh chemicals or household cleaners on your glasses.

Chemicals may damage your frames, and leave streaks on the lenses and strip off any special coating on them. To keep your glasses in great condition for a long time, only use cleaning solutions made for eyeglasses. Check out the Z Clear Lens Cleaner from Focus and Frame Eyewear. It works as a lens cleaner and helps repel oil, dust, and moisture.
